The soundtrack is phenomenal and that atmosphere it builds helps me maintain that patience. This brings up the next complaint, the characters. People find some of the more prominent characters annoying, unlikable or downright stereotypical. This show has a massive cast, it has to in order to make this village actually seem lived in and populated by everyday people. In order to help the viewer keep track of all these different characters of course Shiki would have make some of the characters more stereotypical. Of course there would be that guy from high school who was a creep and nobody liked, of course in a small town a city boy with a bad attitude would get popular, of course there would be the occasional crazy superstitious person out in the boonies, I could go on and on.
